Charities We Support

The MPC Foundation strives “to be the mortgage industry’s preferred way of contributing to Canada’s communities”.

We have chosen to dedicate our charitable focus to cancer research and improving housing needs in Canada and we have partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society and Shelter Movers.

We are committed to supporting our mortgage brokers in their fundraising efforts for these two worthy causes.

The Canadian Cancer Society supports all Canadians living with all cancers across the country. Thanks to our donors and volunteers, we’re able to fund groundbreaking cancer research into all types of cancer, offer support services to help people better manage life with cancer, shape health policies to prevent cancer and support those living with the disease, and offer trusted cancer information for all Canadians.

Board of Directors

Daryl Harris

Chairperson

Daryl is a Past Chair of MPC 2012/2013 and served 8 years on the Board of Directors with MPC. He has also served on the Audit & Finance committee for several years. Daryl is an Accredited Mortgage Professional and a partner in One Link Mortgage & Financial in Winnipeg, MB.

Joe Pinheiro

Joe Pinheiro has been in the mortgage brokerage business for over 23 years. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Newton Connectivity Systems. Previously, he was previously with the Mortgage Alliance Company of Canada for over 20 years as the Vice President of Sales. He has been a long-standing educator instructing various mortgage agent / broker licencing courses to thousands of students in Ontario over the past 18 years.

Joe was a Director on the CAAMP (Mortgage Professionals Canada predecessor) Board for six years and also served as Chair of the association. He has been part of and chaired many boards including the Government Relations Board and the National Ethics Committee. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from both his professional career as well as many years serving the industry and association.

Joe is an advocate for the mortgage brokerage industry and believes that a strong collective voice is vital in government relations. He is committed to working with the Board and all stakeholders to ensure the voice of the mortgage brokerage industry is heard at all levels of government and contribute to the enhancement and betterment of our industry for the benefit of the Canadian mortgage consumer.

Sam Carnovale

Sam Carnovale joined Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation over 25 years ago, and has held various progressive positions in CMHC’s Commercial Sector. Currently, he is the Director, Client Relationship Management, part of CMHC’s Client Solutions Team, where he leads a team of Key Account Management and Operational Professionals that are responsible for leading the relationship management for Homeowner, Multi-Residential and Securitization business lines, for all Financial Institutions. Sam’s relevant industry accreditations include CRM (Certified Risk Manager) and CRF (Certified in Real Estate Finance) designations. Sam is committed to community involvement, having served on many Boards such as Mortgage Professionals Canada, including the Executive Committee and MPC Foundation Chair; Credit Canada Credit Counselling Agency; and kares.ca, to name a few, as well fundraising for Hospice Vaughan. Prior to joining CMHC, Sam was the Principal of an Architectural Consulting Firm that focused on Residential, Commercial and Assembly projects.

Paul Grewal

Paul Grewal is CEO and President of Morcorp Capital Group Inc. Paul was the Vice Chair, President, Director and Co-Founder of Street Capital Bank of Canada. Prior to Street Capital, Paul was President of Firstline Mortgages, Head of CIBC Origination Operations and a Director of CIBC Mortgages Inc. He is a Past Chair of both Mortgage Professionals Canada and The MPC Foundation and an inductee into the Canadian Mortgage Hall of Fame.

Hali Noble

Hali Noble is a Director and the Past President of the Fisgard Capital Corporation. Hali is also Senior Vice President, Residential Mortgage Investments & Broker Relations of Fisgard Asset Management. She has been involved extensively in all related trade association, education and regulatory activity, having been the President of the provincial British Columbia Mortgage Brokers Association as well as Chair of the national Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (Mortgage Professionals Canada).

Hali has received several industry awards for innovation, dedication, education, business practices and ethics, most notably induction to the Canadian Mortgage Hall of Fame and the British Columbia Mortgage Brokers Association Pioneer Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Mortgage Industry. In 2013 she was named one of WXN Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the category of Trailblazers and Trendsetters.

Hali is respected and recognized as a life-long advocate and community supporter of education, arts, culture, charities and non-professional sports, dedicating time and financial resources to social imperatives including support for Our Place Society, Mustard Seed Food Bank, Salvation Army, Victoria Conservatory of Music and the Victoria Symphony. She co-founded of KARES ‘Kids At Risk Embracing Success’ which focuses on youth between the ages of 16-24 who have been marginalized. She is a co-founder of the group WIMI (Women In the Mortgage Industry) which has over 3600 member mortgage brokers, lenders, mortgage insurers and industry service providers from all over Canada. She is extremely proud of her Metis heritage and is a member of the British Columbia Metis Nation.

Bonny Clarke

Bonny has been an industry member for over 25 years. Throughout her career she has held positions on the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association and the Real Estate Council of Alberta. Nationally, she represented Alberta on the Canadian Association of Mortgage Professionals (now Mortgage Professionals Canada).

Contributing to her community thru volunteering is something that Bonny is very passionate about. Now retired, she spends time working with Okotoks Food Bank and Calgary Stampede and Exhibition. In addition over the years she has also volunteered with: Junior Achievement Alberta, Okotoks Little League, Okotoks Agricultural Society, Chinook Team Penning Association and Habitat for Humanity.

Susan Thomas

Susan started her 35-year career working in the retail arm of a large financial institution, focusing on branch management, investments, and financial planning. She transitioned to the lending side, first as a mortgage specialist and then into various business development roles, ultimately making the switch to brokering, where she is currently the Vice President for eastern Canada. Chosen 3 times as a Woman of Influence by the Canadian Mortgage Professional magazine, she is part of a dynamic team of professionals that are Invis Mortgage Intelligence, the longest standing national mortgage brokerage in Canada, part of the M3 Group, Canada’s largest non-bank originator and undisputed leader in mortgage brokerage. An active member of Mortgage Professionals Canada, Susan has been a member of the Ontario Chapter, the Fraud Committee, participated at “Hill Days”, representing the industry to members of parliament, been a speaker at the national conference, regional symposiums, and mentoring sessions.

Passionate about giving back to her community, Susan is a Past President with Distinction of the Orillia Kiwanis Club, a 21-year volunteer with The Canadian Cancer Society, past Run director for CIBC’s Run for the Cure and a past board member for the Community Foundation of Orillia.

Susan is also a Level One CrossFit trainer and competitor who ranked 12th in Canada East (218 worldwide) in the 2013 CrossFit Open Competition.

John Kelly

John Kelly is an entrepreneur and a thought leader in the Real Estate and Mortgage industries. He is the founder of two of Canada's largest mortgage organizations: Centum Canada in 2003 (founder) and VERICO Canada in 2005 (co-founder). He also founded CanadaMortgage.com, a Canadian online network of independently owned and operated mortgage broker firms from coast to coast during the early days of the internet wave in 1997.

Michael Beckette

Following a successful career in the real estate industry, Michael founded The Mortgage Alliance Company in 1998 and since then he and his partners have seen the Mac/Mph Group, grow to become one of Canada’s premiere brokerage networks and the country’s first national mortgage brokerage with over ten billion dollars in mortgage volume annually. Michael is one of the founding members of the M3 Group, Canada’s largest non-bank originator and undisputed leader in mortgage brokerage.

Michael has been instrumental in delivering innovative technology tools, and enhancing the brands ability to evolve Mortgage Alliance’s operating model across all platforms to better support brokers and the customers they serve.

A proven innovator, Michael knows sales, how to build sales and management teams and believes that a clear vision, committed people, resources, measurable goals, and an unwavering focus on benefiting the customer are the cornerstones of any successful organization. In December 2018, Michael was appointed President of M3 Group’s new division M3 Ventures with a focus on expanding M3 brokers’ reach in the mortgage ecosystem and building and securing traditional and non-traditional partnerships. The M3 Group is the #1 non-bank originator with more than 8,000 brokers and $50+ billion in annual loan volumes. Its subsidiaries includes Multi-Prêts Hypothèques, Mortgage Alliance, Invis, Mortgage Intelligence, Verico, M3 Tech, M3 Ventures, M3 MortgageBOSS and SimplInsur/SimplAssur.

Michael is a past Chairman of the industry association and one of the driving forces behind creation of the Accredited Mortgage Professional designation. The Canadian Mortgage Hall of Fame has inducted Michael for his achievements and contributions to the overall success of the Canadian mortgage industry. In 2020, Michael was the Mortgage Awards of Excellence, Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient.

Michael has helped raise well over $1,000,000 for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and The Canadian Cancer Society through many events, galas and the 7,500 km across Canada motorcycle ride called The Mortgage Alliance Rally of Hope.

Pin Luk

MPCF Volunteer Director of Communications

Pin Luk is the VP of Marketing and Operations at VERICO Canada. She has extensive experience in supporting large networks and individual businesses having worked at the head office of one of Canada’s largest real estate brands, PwC and Accenture.

Brian Kim

MPCF Volunteer Director of IT

Brian Kim is the IT Project Manager, Sr. UX designer at VERICO Canada. He is an instrumental member of the team have moved up the ranks from graphics / web designer to now overseeing all IT projects in the organization. Brian's ability to interpret business needs and execute on corporate strategies through technology is second to none.

Kate Brady

MPCF Volunteer, Marketing Communications Team

Kate Brady is the Vice President of Marketing for the DLC Group of Companies, which includes Mortgage Centre Canada (MCC), Mortgage Architects (MA) and Dominion Lending Centres (DLC).

After graduating from University, Kate set her sights on a career in marketing and events with various large agencies in Toronto. She quickly made the jump to the mortgage industry in 2013, spending four years at FCT as a marketing specialist for its Residential Lending Solutions division. When the opportunity to make a bigger impact on the industry became available, she took it; jumping to lead the marketing division in 2017 at one of the largest mortgage originators in Canada.

Her role with DLCG includes advertising strategy, broker marketing and product launches, as well as recruitment support for all brands. In addition to leading Marketing, Kate also oversees events and communications, responsible for the creation and strategy of national sales conferences, rewards trips and internal/external communications for each of the networks.

Outside of DLCG, Kate continues to give back to the industry and her peers. She sits on a number of planning committees where she provides her expertise and leadership, including appearing as a panelist on virtual events throughout 2020 and 2021.

Tammy Poirier

MPCF Volunteer, Marketing Communications Team

Tammy has been in the real estate industry since 1989 and a licensed Mortgage Broker since 2008. Throughout her career, she has been a conveyancer, licensed Realtor, managed a successful real estate company, a Mortgage Franchise Owner, and is now the Manager of Broker Relations at TMG The Mortgage Group.

Tammy’s true passion, however, is in helping others. Her happiest days are coaching mortgage agents and helping them set up their businesses for success. Tammy loves adopting systems and tools to ensure that the mortgage process is smoother for both the clients and the agents servicing them. Her role with TMG The Mortgage Group was a natural fit being able to support agents and brokers from coast to coast. Tammy is, in essence, a personal concierge for new agents who choose to join TMG The Mortgage Group and a huge asset for their existing TMG Family.
